Travelling With Autistic Children

Children with autism like things are routine and structured. Remember that Autistic brain works with different way. Therefore, traveling means disrupt their normal routine. No wonder that many parents avoid traveling with of children with autism. In fact, with the following tips, parents can still take children with autism to travel long distances for vacation.

Here the tips when traveling with an autistic child

Traveling by plane
Explain to the flight crew regarding your child's condition. To overcome the boredom on the plane, prepare a book or toy for the child. Bring candy, especially if the child is unable to communicate verbally and cannot reveal if their ears buzzing.

Explain about the destination
Before traveling, explain to the child about the destination which will visited. Show images or movies about the location that will be visited. Tell also the reason to visit these places and activities that will be done there.

Staying
Planning to stay at the hotel during the holidays? You could be start teaching the child to stay somewhere else, could be at family homes or hotels in town for one night so that the children are familiar with the atmosphere when sleeping in other places. In order for children is not too "shocked" with the new atmosphere, bring a blanket or pillow that usually wore.

For your safety
As a precaution, wear identification that contains your personal data and your phone number. Bring a photo of your child to show to the police when the child separates from you.

Customize your child's interest
In order your child enjoys the trip, take to visit places that match their interests. For example to Sea World when he was interested in marine animals or to the pool when he liked to swim. Avoid overcrowded schedules, take time so that child can play around in hotel rooms so that child is not too tired.
